Classes

Drawing and watercolor classes are available at Diane’s studio. Students choose favorite subjects to draw or paint, with personal help to guide them as they learn how to turn their own ideas into exciting new images. Conceptual fine art classes develop active learners with better observation and analysis skills. Frequent demonstrations show broadly useful solutions for common problems. Relaxed classes are held in a beautiful setting nestled in the hills overlooking Uvas Lake, just 5 miles from Morgan Hill.

Seating is limited to a maximum of 7 students per class at the Home Studio. All supplies for drawing and watercolor are included as well as a snack each day - oil paint will be extra.

  1. 2.Enjoy the classes!

It's best for beginners to come early in summer, so they can have more time to practice their new art skills, and enjoy making their own paintings during the summer vacation. If you are signing up for more than one art camp, you may send the tuition for the first class at this time, and I will hold subsequent dates for you. Tuition is due 30 days before the scheduled class dates, unless other arrangements are requested.

Have you looked at the Student Gallery on this website? The older students are not well represented here, but the younger kids age 5 – 8 have submitted impressive artwork.  Students choose their own subjects, which I use to teach them everything they want (and need) to know. They learn A LOT in a single art camp, but grow faster with more classes. Their observation skills improve, also ability to identify and focus on key issues, plan a sequence of steps to tackle difficult tasks, learn to benefit from failure, and persevere to completion – issues basic to all aspects of life.

Students have received top awards in State-wide art contests (Sacramento State Fair, State Parks poster competitions, Santa Clara County Fair, School art contests) and graduates of my programs have received scholarships to the best art schools in the US (Pasadena Art Center - see Karl Frey, Eric Merrell).
